Tudor Musical Comedy Society Present : Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a lively, family-friendly musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics), based on the biblical story of Joseph from the Book of Genesis.

The show follows Joseph, the favorite son of Jacob, who is gifted a dazzling multicolored coat as a symbol of his father’s love. This sparks jealousy among his eleven brothers, who sell him into slavery in Egypt and tell their father he is dead. Despite hardship, Joseph rises from servant to prisoner, and ultimately becomes Pharaoh’s trusted advisor after interpreting dreams that foretell famine.

As Joseph’s wisdom saves Egypt, his starving brothers unknowingly come to him for help. Disguised, Joseph tests their character, then reveals his true identity in a joyful reunion. The story concludes with themes of forgiveness, family, and dreams fulfilled—told through an eclectic score that blends pop, rock, calypso, country, and more, with humor and spectacle throughout.
