And just like that, another August is almost over. ❤️
It’s been a wonderful month of summer sunshine, long warm days, holidays, days out and plenty of opportunities to enjoy everything our wonderful local area has to offer.
☀️ WHAT A SUMMER!
August brought us some extraordinary weather, continuing what has been a remarkable summer across the UK — although after weeks of sunshine and increasingly dry gardens, perhaps a little rain was inevitable! 🌧️😂
🏃♀️ EUROPEAN ATHLETICS CAME TO BIRMINGHAM
One of the biggest highlights of the month happened right on our doorstep as the European Athletics Championships came to Alexander Stadium.
And what a championships it was for Great Britain! 🇬🇧
One of the stars was Nottingham-born sprinter Amy Hunt, who made history by becoming the first athlete ever to win FOUR gold medals at a single European Athletics Championships! 🥇🥇🥇🥇
She took gold in the:
🥇 100m
🥇 200m
🥇 Women's 4x100m relay
🥇 Mixed 4x100m relay
An incredible achievement — and fantastic to see Birmingham once again hosting world-class sport. 👏
🎒 BACK TO SCHOOL!
August also means the summer holidays are drawing to a close.
For thousands of local families, September brings the return of school runs, uniforms, packed lunches and alarm clocks! 😱😂
For some youngsters it will be their very first day at school, while others will be starting a brand-new chapter at secondary school, college or university.
We wish every one of them the very best of luck. ❤️
🍂 AND NOW… SEPTEMBER
The evenings are beginning to draw in, there's just the slightest hint of autumn around the corner, and another summer is slowly slipping away.
But don't worry — September certainly doesn't mean everything stops!

This September, The Staffordshire Regiment Museum brings history to life with a special two-day event commemorating The Battle of Arnhem and Operation Market Garden.
Taking place on 19 & 20 September, visitors will be able to experience live reenactments, explore Second World War displays and discover more about one of the most ambitious Allied operations of WWII.
It promises to be a fascinating weekend for history enthusiasts and families alike — and there's no need to book in advance, simply pay on the day.

Our biggest flooring project to date! 💪
BRF Flooring recently completed a major installation at Severne Junior and Infant School in Acocks Green.
A substantial 550m² of Burmatex Go To carpet tiles was installed across four corridors and three classrooms, creating a smart and consistent finish throughout these busy areas of the school.
Careful planning, efficient teamwork and precise installation were essential to completing a project of this scale—and the finished corridors and classrooms look fantastic.
BRF Flooring was put forward for the project through Birmingham Bursars, supported by a recommendation from a former business manager at BVGS. It was a valuable endorsement of our work and an opportunity we were delighted to fulfil.

CLOC Musical Theatre Company presents the Sutton Coldfield premiere of Come From Away at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall this autumn.
Set in the small Canadian town of Gander in the days following 11 September 2001, this uplifting musical tells the remarkable true story of how local people welcomed 7,000 stranded passengers after 38 planes were diverted.
A moving celebration of kindness, community and unexpected connections — with an award-winning score inspired by Newfoundland folk and Celtic music.
The cast are already hard at work in rehearsal, and this looks set to be a very special production.
