Trinity Players
Trinity Players is an award-winning amateur theatre society based in Sutton Coldfield, which has been performing high quality shows for over 40 years. Formed in 1975 we have grown to become a thriving group that puts on three shows each year. We start with our musical in the spring, followed by a play in late summer/early autumn and a musical entertainment-style production around Christmas time. Please enjoy your journey around our site and if you like what you see feel free to get in touch with us
The Mint Theatre Society
The Mint Theatre Society was founded in 2016 with one mission – to bring fresh, exciting and high-quality non-professional theatre to audiences in the West Midlands. Since our first production, Robert Blackwood & Nick Cowell’s Edinburgh smash-hit comedy ‘The Gin Chronicles’, we have continued to work hard to entertain our ever-growing audience base. Our people are passionate theatre-makers who hold a wealth of stage experience between them. We love our audience members and if you ‘like’ our fan page, you will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win two free tickets to each play. Feel free to explore our page, and we hope to see you at one of our productions soon!
‘Mint have no home and do a remarkable job as a touring theatre in their own right. Aldridge Social Club has, as you would expect, a social club stage, and such stages are designed for comics and singers, bands and bingo … But Mint overcome the difficulties with a makeshift thrust stage and almost a pub theatre atmosphere with the audience on tables, drinks in hand, a matter of feet from the actors. Live theatre, close and personal.’ – Roger Clarke, ‘Behind the Arras’ (Review for ‘The Dresser’, March 2018)
Sutton Coldfield Town Hall
We are a registered charity whose principal objective is to benefit the residents of Sutton Coldfield and its surrounding areas by providing facilities for entertainment, education, community gatherings, recreation and leisure activities. Through encouraging the broadest possible use of these facilities and the organisation of a range of events and artistic performance the Trust aims to improve the quality of life and education for the whole community.
In October 2016, the day-to-day management of the building transferred to Sutton Coldfield Arts and Recreational Charitable Trust. Formed from a core of local volunteers, the board comprises members from a variety of different professional backgrounds providing us with experts in a number of fields pertinent to ensuring the Town Hall Sutton Coldfield will not be faced again with such financial hardship and uncertainty.
“All the major players have the same desire which is to see the Town Hall on a secure and safe footing.”
– R. Mason (Chairman of Sutton Coldfield Arts and Recreational Trust)
Buzzards Valley
Buzzards Valley Vineyard
Nestled in the Canwell Valley on a 60-acre site some 8000 vines are grown across seven varieties of German and French grapes. Established in 2001, Buzzards Valley has since grown to develop six fishing lakes, a popular restaurant, and a successful retail and online shop and a monthly Artisan Market
OUR JOURNEY
Since 1962 the family business has been here on the Canwell Estate. Starting out with farming, they then moved on to growing vegetables.
The next step was opening a small florists which eventually expanded into a large wholesale business. (Excelsior Dried Flowers)
In 2001, the planting of 8000 vines started and a few years later a winery, shop and restaurant was built on the premises. The business has since grown to include a fishery.
In 2016, the production of gins started, along side our wines and Buzzards Valley continues to be a great success.
The story is far more detailed and a great way to hear more about it is to book onto one of our Vineyard tours!
The Butlers Arms
We’re a family business. Chris does the Landlord thing (and plays about infusing spirits and making charcuterie and stuff), Paula heads up the kitchen brigade with the help of son Dan, while daughter Becki holds the whole thing together with smiles and laughter and some pretty exceptional management skills.
Of course we’ve got great beer and all the usual drinks, but everyone talks about our food…and our hospitality, and our eclectic (some say weird) taste in furnishings and décor, and our toilets (you’ll love our lavs!), our coffee, our home made gins and ever changing wine list, and…did we mention the food? We’re a bit different and (we’re told) a bit good at what we do best; making people happy.
So we’re real people running our own business, doing something we love. And when we’re not working, we’re working. Days off are often spent in some of the country’s most interesting restaurants to bring inspiration and ideas back to The Butlers Arms. Our holidays are spent…mainly in restaurants or vineyards to bring inspiration and ideas back to…yes, you’ve got the idea.
We live and breathe great food, interesting drinks, outstanding hospitality, and all of that comes home to roost in our lovely pub. We think it’s our interest and passion that makes for happy customers and we’d love you to visit us.
Great food is the lynchpin of our business, so we have to have some rules. If it’s fish, it’s got to be the freshest fish. If it’s meat, it’s got to be the best meat from the best butcher, and if Paula decides to pop a burger on the menu…it’ll be the most glorious burger ever! We smoke our own fish and cure some of our own charcuterie.
